4th of July Fun!!

So we kicked off celebrating the 4th the day before with a day full of fun activities.

We kicked off with our annual 4th of July cake, but this time we added a twist and did colored layers!! The kids love helping in the kitchen.

Thankfully I had an assistant today.  Maddie helped me with the activities. Next we made fireworks with black paper, pipe cleaners, paint, and glitter.

Next we made sprinkle fireworks.  We put sprinkles on white paper and wet them, then they bleed to look like fireworks.

Then Maddie helped them each make a 4th of July wand!!

Then we made food coloring fireworks.  I placed drops of food coloring on white paper and the kids blew it with straws.  It makes a firework affect.

We had a Independence Day lunch!!

I read Liar, Liar Pants on Fire which is actually about George Washington, but it looked like 4th of July!!

Last we made moon sand(8 cups of flour, 1 cup of baby oil) and the kids played with red and blue cups and star cookie cutters in the sand.  It looks really messy, but it actually comes off of them really easy, nothing like real sand!!  It also smells good!!

Then we dressed up and went to see fireworks!!

Happy 4th of July 2013!!  Lots of fun, fireworks, and family!!
