DIRT DAY

Dirt Day

Who knew you could make a whole day of complete fun with dirt and water!!  We had so much fun playing with mud all day.  Even I was filthy at the end of the day.  I'm not sure who enjoyed the mud more, me or the kids!!!

First we mixed mud and water in a bin.
\

We put some of our mud in ice trays and let them sit in the sun to harden a bit for bricks.

Ally and I left Dakota to begin building his truck city while we gathered items for her fairy house.  Instead he decided to get in the mud bucket, which was completely awesome!!

For Ally's Fairy House we gathered leaves, twigs, branches, rocks and flowers and glued them to a cardboard box. Her house was full of fairies and ponies and it was guarded by Sheriff Woody and a Ninja Turtle.

We made a mud hole for our little piggie friends.  This was Ally's favorite part of the day she said.  She loved playing piggies in the mud.

Their was a horrible dino on the loose as well.  We managed to capture and cage him up!!

Dakota built tracks and carports with his ice cube mud bricks.

We made little mud people!!

We stopped for lunch and I read Pigs in the Mud in the Middle of the Rud while they ate their pig sandwiches. Such a cute story!!

After lunch we made a magical mud cupcake mix.  We used mud, glitter, berries from our blueberry tree and tiny umbrellas to decorate the cupcakes.  They looked so real we wanted  to taste them!!

We love  to play restaurant and today we added a little mud to our restaurant play.

Next we did some mud paintings which we hung in their playhouse.

When it was time for cleanup, I filled buckets with soap and let them wash all the toys we had gotten muddy.

and Dakota even washed himself!!

This was definitely a day we will be repeating. We had a blast and the kids are already asking when we can do it again!!
