Balloon Day

What an awesome way to spend a summer day!!  We had soo much fun with this themed day.  Memories made to last a lifetime.

We started with a breakfast of balloon pancakes!

Next we did the balloon yarn craft.  You hang a balloon and cover it in Vaseline.  Then you roll off some yarn in a cup and coat it well with glue.  You wrap the yarn around and around the balloon and let it sit overnight.  The next morning you pop the balloon and your creation is born!!

The next morning, popping the balloon.

At first we thought we failed because it looked like this as the air leaked out!

But we were wrong, it turned out like this.  Please excuse that her hair looks like her creation.  She wanted to pop it as soon as she got up.

Here is little mans.

Next we did balloon painting.  They really loved this and did several pages.

Next we played a good old fashioned game of don't let the balloon touch the floor!!

We decorated Ally's hair with balloons and made a balloon ring for Dakota.

This one was not planned, but since they seemed to want to really play with the balloons I had tied up for the yarn project, we decided to have a little balloon tether ball.

Next was balloons on the trampoline.

Next was an old fashioned water balloon fight!

Next we hung balloons filled with water and the kids had to break them with a bat.  They were harder than we thought to break and hilarious!!

Next up water balloon baseball

Then we went inside for a little AC and to make balloon people.  The kids drew faces and traced their hands and feet for their balloon people.

Next I read Snuffles makes a friend while they ate lunch.

And of course we had to have a balloon lunch!!

Next we made splatter paintings by putting balloons filled with paint on paper and letting them pop them with toothpicks.

Then they got to paint the concrete by throwing and stomping balloons filled with paint.

Cool down time with balloons in the pool

Inside for some balloon ping pong.  We made these out of paper plates and Popsicle sticks.

To end our balloon day I tied a piece of yarn across the room and let them play balloon volleyball.

I finished the day exhausted and with a nice blister from tying so many balloons in one day, but also happy to have another great day with the kids!!

  1. It looks like they had a great day. I especially liked the pancakes that looked like balloons for the balloon day. I must try this one day as my nephew's 4th birthday is coming up.
